The importance of budgeting is becoming more and more important in todays changing world.
Knowing where you are and where you are heading is crucial. At AgriFocus, we work through a budget with all of our clients at the start of each season, we then track this budget throughout the year through Variance reporting.
These budgets are loaded into whichever Accounting software is used, so we can track the budget as at the end of each GST period.
This allows us to see how the income is tracking vs where we expected, and also how the costs are tracking and where we are out, which in turn allows clients to make management decisions on farm against how the financials are tracking.
We also update the budget throughout the season, A: from a cashflow perspective, but B: also for Tax Planning purposes. When payout changes, production changes, Lambing and Tailing are done and dusted, Harvest is done, these are all times we should be updating the numbers to see where the year is going to sit.
